I am a first-year PhD student in the Clinical Psychology program. Broadly, I am interested in the ways in which people evaluate their romantic partners and how these evaluations influence their relationship quality. I aim to explore the circumstances under which people become more critical and diagnostic, shifting away from positive, global illusions. I'm particularly interested in understanding when being highly evaluative can be helpful, such as in identifying and overcoming issues, and when it might become counterproductive, potentially leading to unnecessary dissatisfaction or lowered relationship stability.

My research broadly examines various strategies that people may use to resist temptations in the pursuit of long-term goals—mainly in the context of close relationships. For example, what strategies do people in committed romantic relationships use to overcome the temptation to be unfaithful to their partner? Do people who aim to pursue relationships with individuals who meet certain criteria (e.g., having a shared cultural background) use certain strategies to resist the desire to initiate a relationship with someone who does not meet these criteria?

I am a third-year PhD student in Experimental Psychology. I am broadly interested in what factors motivate people to enter new romantic relationships, how relationships bring meaning to our lives, and how people thrive in singlehood. In my main line of research, I study why certain people pursue and maintain unfulfilling relationships and how this relates to an intolerance of uncertainty. In my second stream of research, I am currently examining how feeling understood by a romantic partner fosters self-concept clarity and meaning in life. Through my work, I hope to gain a better understanding of healthy relationship decision-making and to ultimately promote well-being in and out of relationships.

I am in my second-year of psychology with a minor in pathology. Although I find the entire realm of social psychology fascinating, I am especially intrigued by the dynamic between self-esteem, self-concept clarity, and attachment styles. I am excited to join Lydon Lab as volunteer coordinator, and look forward to the many exciting projects in the works!
